Carol Schwartz
For the past several years, I have focused my work on narrative sculptures of the human figure. Drawn in part from real life, and in part from fantasies, my work addresses issues that contemporary women face concerning love, desire, and ambition. In my most recent work, I use humor to expresses personal accounts concerning these matters. Although I often use lighthearted humor to express these struggles, my work depicts valid concerns for women today.
Carol Schwartz has been working with clay for eleven years. She received her BFA in ceramic arts from Texas State University in 2002. She received her MFA in ceramic arts with a minor in printmaking from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in 2005. She resides in Houston, working in her studio at home and teaching ceramics at Houston Community College.
